CALLED TO SERVE

Savannah didn't plan to serve a mission and thought her calling in life was to serve in other ways, but that all changed SO quickly as she felt promptings from the spirit that she should go on a mission.  Once she decided, she called Bishop Ed and had her papers filled out and turned in within 24 hours.  She had all her doctor apts. and interviews done by the following Sunday and her papers were officially submitted on March 10, 2020.  It was the following day that everything changed due to the Corona Virus.  Business's and schools closed and the quarantine began.  It was 6 week (April 21st) before Savannah received her call.  By then missionaries had been sent home throughout the world and mission life had changed dramatically.  Even with all the uncertainty, she wanted to serve where the Lord wanted her to go.

She opened her call with John an I just after she received the email.  She was SO excited!!  She had been to Africa and India on humanitarian trips and wondered if she would serve in a 3rd world country or somewhere foreign. When she opened her call and it said, "You are called to serve in the TEXAS FORT WORTH MISSION", she was shocked.  Texas??  It wasn't even on our radar at all.  She opened it again later and read to friends and family (who were mostly on zoom) where she was called.  I think at first she was a little disappointed that she was staying in the states and didn't get to speak a language, but now we all know that Texas is the perfect place for her to serve and exactly where the Lord wants and needs her to be.
